Winning a major stake at The Meadowlands remains a goal to all who breed, raise, sell, buy, train and race Standardbreds. Thanks to the support of the sponsors listed below, The Meadowlands is able to continue to provide the races so important to harness racing at the same purse levels as in the past. We are proud to be able to continue to provide the stage for these marquee stakes.

"To be honest, after the casino referendum failed it was originally our intent to drastically reduce the stakes program to try to recoop the $5.7 million overpayment that had been made under the assumption that we would get a casino and that money could get repaid over time," said Meadowlands President & CEO Jeff Gural. "However, when I saw how successful the sales were last fall in Kentucky and Harrisburg, we decided to see if we could get sponsors for all of our stakes which would allow us to keep our normal stakes program with a few minor modifications in place. The response we got was overwhelmingly positive and I was only turned down by two people. I am really proud of the industry for stepping up as our stakes program this year is scheduled to be around $12 million."
