Prince Archie navigated the dense fog and a field of nine trotters to notch his first victory of 2024 on Sunday, March 3 at Flamboro Downs.

The $8,400 non-winners of three event closed out the Sunday 10-race card where Steven Hudon had the steer of the 7-2 second-choice. Leaving from post five, Hudon landed Prince Archie in the pocket position while Colin Kelly cut the first quarter in :29 aboard All star Goldi. The duo remained one-two on the front end to the halfway point in 58.3 before the trotters disappeared into the fog on the way to three-quarters. The trotters reached that station in 1:28.1 and entering the far turn, Prince Archie emerged on top following a backstretch brush over the retreating All Star Goldi.

Turning for home in total command, the field was left to bow down to Prince Archie to the tune of 4-1/2 lengths on the wire, where Prince Archie stopped the timer in 1:58.2. Archimedes and Lyle Macarthur rallied for second, with ER Norma and Jason Ryan finishing third. Prince Archie paid $9.00 for the victory.

Trained by Laura Toscani, the victory was the first in six tries in 2024 and sixth in the career of Prince Archie. Owned by Gino Toscani, the four-year-old gelded son of Archangel-Belle Of The Ball pushed his career earnings to $51,822 with the win.
