Nichols, NY — Abby Rose and Ridge Warren fired late to capture the featured $9,500 pace for fillies and mares at Tioga Downs on Saturday (Aug. 5).

Pearl Harbour N (Mike Merton) led to quarter in :27 and maintained her lead while Lets Ryde Girl (Aaron Byron) put on the pressure first-up through middle splits of :56 and 1:23.3. As they made the turn for home, Prairie Westerngal (Tyler Miller) popped the pocket and grabbed a short lead, only for Abby Rose to come flying three-wide and brush to a 1:53.2 win. Prairie Westerngal got second; Pearl Harbour N had to settle for third.

Abby Rose ($8.50) is a 5-year-old mare by Heston Blue Chip owned by Mali Norbye and trained by Randy Taft. It was her third win of the season and her 14th career victory.

Trainer Stacey McLenaghan and driver Corey Braden combined for a double. Mike Merton had a driving double.

Live racing at Tioga returns on Sunday (Aug. 6) with a 12-race card starting at 1 p.m. For more information, go to www.tiogadowns.com.
