Berlin, MD — The Maryland Standardbred Fund Stakes for 2-year-olds concluded on Wednesday (Aug. 2) at Ocean Downs with one division each for trotting fillies and male pacers.

In the filly trot, Six Inch Heels came out of the pocket at the half and controlled the second lap of the 2:00.2 mile, beating Going Platinum and Family Riches. Victor Kirby drove the Winbak Farm-bred daughter of Six Pack for Chris Freck and owners James Magno and Marita Berglund.

The male pace saw Cloggs For Real and trainer-driver John Wagner cut the mile and hold off challenges by several horses before being headed by The Blue Easy at the wire, but Cloggs For Real was placed first after The Blue Easy was deemed to have broken stride in the final yards of the 1:5.4 mile. Breeder Pam Wagner owns the victorious son of Rusty’s For Real.

Sophomore Maryland Standardbred Fund races will be held on Aug. 7 and 9.
