On Thursday (April 27) evening, What An Angel posted the fastest time of the night in one of the four $18,000 condition features after winning in a career best in 1:54.4 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Louis-Philippe Roy was at the controls of What An Angel, looking for his third win of the night. As the gate pulled away, the early lead was swooped by No Turning Back (Tyler Jones), Inn At Rodanthe (Jody Jamieson), and Shesundertheradar (Gino Toscani). Roy and What An Angel got away fourth as they moved through the opening panel in :27.4. The pair made a move towards the top, clearing as they approached the half in :57.2. What An Angel extended himself to a 2-1/2 length advantage over the field at the three-quarters in 1:26.2 before winning by two lengths in a new lifetime mark. No Turning Back was second and Warrawee Yang (Bob McClure) got up for third.

 

What An Angel is trained by Desiree Jones for owner Gino Toscani of Mount Hope, Ontario. The three-year-old colt is a son of Archangel and the Andover Hall mare Andover The Crown. What An Angel collected his second career win and moved his career bankroll to $93,567.
