Berlin, MD --- A new world record was the highlight at the Ocean Oval in the Maryland Sire Stakes Showcase of Champions, with eight Sire Stakes finals held Thursday night (August 25) with purses totaling $200,000.

Jim Morand drove Googoo Gaagaa in the Maryland Sire Stakes Final for 2-year-old colt/gelding trotters, stopping the timer in 1:56, beating Brissot by 41 lengths and setting a new world record for 2-year-old colts on a half-mile oval, shattering the previous record set by Live Jazz (1:56.4) in 2010. Googoo Gaagaa (Cam’s Rocket–Kora’s Trotter) is now unbeaten in six races with lifetime earnings of $38,512. This fast trotter's sire is ironically a pacer.
