Second leg of DSBF trotters contested Sunday

Harrington, DE --- Four $20,000 divisions of the second leg of the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund events for 3-year-old trotters were contested Sunday (June 19) at Harrington Raceway.

Among the two colt divisions, Lawrence and Barbara Mayer’s Mob Boss ($2.40, Bret Brittingham) continued his dominance, with his fifth win in seven career starts. The Don Boss Vita gelding completed a sweep of the eliminations with a 1-1/4 length win over Granny’s-Lil-Floyd and All Clear in a time of 2:02. Mob Boss is trained by Anastasios Papadopolous.

Winbak Farm and Leblanc Racing’s Obey The Command ($2.40, Tony Morgan) was the fastest of the colt winners with a 2:00.2 win and also completed a sweep of his elims with a front stepping win over Call On Me and Smart Strike. Trained by Steve LeBlanc, Obey The Command earned his fifth career win.

On the filly side, Nanticoke Racing and Jim Morand’s Overnight Command (Morand) earned her ninth win in 12 career starts. As usual, the CR Commando filly showed tremendous gate speed and wired her foes in 1:59. Tokyo Oklahoma was second while Now Virginia closed late for third. Trained by Les Givens, Overnight Command won both her elimination races.

Not to be outdone was Serendipity Stable’s Political Starlet ($2.20, Ross Shand), who also completed a sweep of her elims with a wire-to-wire win in 2:02.4 for trainer Tui Stone.

The Delaware-bred trotters will return to compete in $100,000 finals on Governor’s Day during the Delaware State Fair on July 28.
