Bay Of Sharks Retired, To Stud

Thursday, February 20, 2014  By: Standardbred Canada
>It has been announced that eight-year-old Bay Of Sharks p,2,1:53.1s; 3,1:51.3s; 1:49.3s ($550,807) has been retired and will stand at stud in Ontario for the 2014 breeding season.

From 116 career races, Bay Of Sharks (Cams Card Shark-Whitley Bay) recorded 29 wins, 13 second-place finishes and 10 thirds, good for $550,807 in overall purse earnings. He took his mark of 1:49.3 this past fall at Mohawk Racetrack at age seven and paced back to it one week later in his next start.

Bay Of Sharks – who swept both the WEGZ Series at Woodbine Racetrack and the Friendship Series at Georgian Downs in 2012 – made quite a bit of noise during his three-year-old campaign in 2009. While racing against the continent’s top glamour boys, Bay Of Sharks won an elimination of the Confederation Cup at Flamboro Downs and was stakes-placed in the Burlington Stakes and North America Cup at Mohawk Racetrack and the Breeders Crown at Woodbine Racetrack.

Bay Of Sharks, who is a half brother to Canadian Breeders Champion Bay Girl p,3,1:50s ($600,299), will stand for a fee of $1,000 (CDN) in 2014.
