Lexington Sale Wraps Up

The 2011 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale continued on Friday afternoon in Kentucky with its fifth and final session.

Galex, Hip 679, brought in the highest bid of the day at $85,000. He was purchased by John Como Jr. of New Jersey. Consigned by agent Preferred Equine Inc., the bay son of Ponder is the third foal out of Miss Deeds and a half-brother to Ohio Sires Stakes champion Mystique Cruiser.

Como also purchased another high priced yearling from the Brittany Farms consignment. Real Illusion sold for $80,000 just two horses prior as Hip 677. The bay son of Real Desire is out of 2003 Canadian Breeders Championship winner Special Magic.

Request For Parole, Hip 733, was purchased for $82,000 from Richard Berthiaume Inc. of Montreal, Que. Consigned by Winbak Farm, the bay daughter of Badlands Hanover out of Give Me Life is a half-sister to $491,040 earner Gallant Yankee.

A total of 157 yearlings sold during the final session for $1,762,500, with the average price at $11,298. This strong fifth and final session helped boost the sale to an overall increase in average price of just under nine percent. The 2011 Lexington Selected sale featured 761 yearlings, selling for an average price of $33,706.
