DSBF Freshmen Filly Finals Saturday

Friday, December 04, 2009  By: Standardbred Canada

After two preliminary legs, the top eight point-getters meet in the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) $100,000 finals for two-year-old filly pacers and filly trotters on Saturday, December 5 at Dover Downs. First post is 5:30 p.m. The $100,000 colt pace and colt trot are set for Sunday.

Trainer George Teague has a powerful two-filly entry in the $100,000 pace. Model Legs, owned by Badlands Racing and Teague, won both her prelims and has four wins in five career starts with Corey Callahan in the bike. Naughty Indeed, driven by Montrell Teague for Dennis Polimeni and VIP Stable, also won her two prelims and is five for nine lifetime. Fran Luck, bred and owned by Bob Messick and trainer Tim Torbert, has been second in her two prelims while Winbak Patty, was a neck back in second last time. David Miller will drive for owners Joe Thomson, Del Cote and the Henry Faragallis.

The other starters are John Croddick's Badlands Kate with Tony Morgan, Top Land racing for Ben Stafford and driver Ben Stafford, Jr., Sun Land, with Ron Pierce driving, owned by Woody Long and Bill Mears and Cherub Hanover, driven by Bryan Truitt and Bryan Truitt, Jr.

In last week's DSBF filly trot prelims, Erika Paradee's Chocolate N Roses got up in the final stride for Mike Merton to nip the leader from the start Emily Do, owned by Lloyd Arnold and trainer-driver John Wagner, by a nose in 2:01.3. Indian Hill Blaze finished third for trainer-driver Ron Hill. In the other $20,000 prelim, Ron Pierce took Marvin Meyer's Punks Embrace into the lead after the opening quarter and led to the wire in 2:01.1. My Command To You finished second with Corey Callahan driving for Newman Racing and Winbak Farm. Nanticoke Racing's Miss Snazz with Jim Morand was the show finisher.

Also making the final are Status Symbol, the second part of the Nanticoke Racing entry co-owned by Delbert and Michael Cain and owner-trainer-driver Brian Tomlinson's Pink Lisa.
