Gord Brown has been the leading driver at Kawartha Downs for several years now and tonight he showed why as he captured half of the 10 races on the card.

He got the ball rolling in the second race, winning with Part Time Lady 1:58.3. Who Took that provided him with his next trip to the winner’s circle after a 1:59.3 effort. Brown then scored a natural hit trick winning the seventh, eighth and ninth races with No More Excuses, Wildcat Art and Fight Night.

Brown is closing in on 4,000 lifetime wins with 3,919 on his summary to date.

Racing resumes next Saturday night as Kawartha Downs will celebrate its 42nd anniversary with higher purses for the night, the Billyjojimbob Memorial Trot and a t-shirt giveaway.

The race card will include 12 races with 25 per cent higher purses than on a regular race card, free t-shirts to the first 500 customers and the $12,500 Billyjojimbob Memorial Trot celebrating the great trotter who began his career at Kawartha and went on to become the only Canadian horse to ever win the prestigious Elitlopp in Sweden in addition to the Breeders Crown. Post time is 7:00 p.m.

For dining room reservations call 705-940-0237 or enjoy a casual dinner trackside featuring hamburgers, fresh salads and ice cream all for $12.
