Adios draws field of 18

Washington, PA--A total of 18 top 3-year-old pacers, including four trained by George Teague Jr. as he tries to capture his second consecutive blanket of orchids, will compete in the 45th edition of the $650,000 (est.) Delvin Miller Adios, which begins this Saturday, July 23, at The Meadows Racetrack & Casino with three $50,000 eliminations.

The Top three finishers in each elim return for the $500,000 final Saturday, July 30, when the card will offer more than $1 million in purses. First post July 30 is 12:55 p.m.

Teague, who took last year’s Adios with Delmarvelous, sends out a foursome headed by Custard The Dragon, winner of the $500,000 Hoosier Cup, and Wink N Atcha, a close third in last week’s $1 million Meadowlands Pace. Teague also will be represented by Feel Like A Fool and Wind Me Up.

“It’s tough enough to win one Adios let alone two,” said Teague, who would become the first trainer since Brett Pelling in 2004-05 to go back-to-back, “but I think we’re powerful enough to make some noise. Ultimately, it will come down to trip and who’s able to do his thing.”

Other trainers with multiple Adios entrants are Ron Burke (Hugadragon, Real Special), Dr. Ian Moore (Rockabillie, Eighteen) and Jimmy Takter (Rollwithitharry, High Noon).
