Union Bridge, MD --- Ocean Downs hosted Maryland Standardbred Fund races over the past two days.

On Thursday (July 14), seven Maryland Standardbred Fund races for 3-year-olds went to post.

John Wagner took all three early non-wagering events. Devil May Care (Badlands Hanover-Turn For The Best) paced away from the field of filly pacers in 1:57.3. Wagner also took both divisions of colt/gelding trotters, first with Im The Cash Man (Cash Hall-Mara’s Theme) in 1:57.4, lowering the stakes record by two seconds for gelding trotters. Just Like Lloyd (Like A Prayer-Lindy’s Bell) took the second division in 2:01.3.

On the wagering card, one-fifth of a second separated the top three filly pacers, with Badlands Jenna (Badlands Hanover-Jenna’s Joy) crossing the wire first in 1:55.2 for Ben Stafford, Jr. The first division of colt/gelding pacers went to Rockin Robert (Dragon Again-Rain Dance Kim), driven by Brad Hanners, after War Cloud was placed second for interference in the stretch. The time for the mile was 1:56.3. My Baby Momma (Tejano-Kora’s Trotter) left the gate and never looked back, trotting the mile in 2:02.3 for driver Jonathan Roberts in the filly trot. John Wagner closed the Maryland Standardbred Fund action with his fourth trip to the winner's circle behind Winsmith Syd (Real Artist-Winsmith Karen), taking the second division of colt/gelding pacers in 1:54.

The 2-year-olds took center stage on Wednesday (July 13). Alleigh Girl (Don Boss Vita-Armbro Odalisk) went wire-to-wire for Les Givens in 2:04 to take the filly trot in the first non-betting event. Givens came right back in the first division of the colt/gelding trot with Windshield (Political Briefing-CR Mimosa), leading the field by nine lengths at the wire in 2:05.3.

With a light rain falling, the second division of colt/gelding trotters went to GooGoo GaaGaa (Cam’s Rocket-Kora’s Trotter), trotting the last quarter in :29.2 for driver Corey Callahan on the way to a 2:02.2 score. The win gives Maryland pacing stallion Cam’s Rocket his first record trotter.

The colt/gelding pacers went in three divisions. Ben Stafford, Jr. settled Mudslide in third until the half, then went after the leader Hot Speed. Mudslide (Dragon Again-Kahlua Queen) took the lead at the three-quarter pole before crossing the wire in 1:57.4, last quarter in :28. Breakin The Law (Artiscape-Arl’s Troublemaker) took the second division in 1:59, giving Stafford his second trip to the winner's circle. The final division of colt/gelding pacers went to In Front Charlie (Up Front Charlie-Mark’s Courtesy) as he caught Montrell Teague and Bid Quick at the wire in 1:57, giving Corey Callahan his second stakes win of the night.
