Artic Blue Up In Time

Artic Blue pulled off a 38-1 stunner one week ago at the Meadowlands, but he wasn’t about to pull that trick in Thursday’s follow-up effort in the $20,000 final of the Perfect Ten Series.

With Simon Allard at the helm, Artic Blue was sent off at odds of 7-2 this time around, and despite being parked two and even three wide throughout the mile he came away victorious by a neck in 1:53.

He was eighth and parked at the quarter and half-mile markers before making a three-wide bid at the three-quarter pole. Desert Sign had supplied the field with fractions of :27.4, :55.2 and 1:24.1 to that point, but he couldn’t fend off Artic Blue over the final quarter of the contest. Artic Blue used a :28.2 closing panel to post the narrow victory over Desert Sign, with Dan Chaz tagging along to grab the show dough.

Julius Czermann trains the six-year-old son of Artiscape-One Sad Bister for owner Frank Scamporino, Jr. of Monroe TWP, NJ. It was just the second win of the season in 19 attempts for the gelding, who has banked more than $127,000 in his career.
