Winbak Farm Bred Takes First In Meadowlands Pace

Delaware connections came though with high honors in the $1-million Meadowlands Pace on July 16, with Roll The Joe notching a 1:48.2 victory and Wink N Atcha gaining third money and Powerful Mist taking the fifth-place slice.

In all, half of the 10 starters were owned or bred, raised and sold by a First State connection. Winbak Farm took first money with Roll With Joe, while three other starters were George Teague trained and co-owned, Custard The Dragon, Wink N Atcha and Feel Like A Fool. Custard The Dragon is a Winbak bred, while both Wink N Atcha and Feel Like A Fool were bred by Joe Hurley’s Roll The Dice Stable of Wilmington, Del. Another Winbak Farm graduate, Powerful Mist, a son of Delaware-stallion Powerful Toy completed the strong Delaware connection, while another Wnbak-bred in the Meadowlands Pace was the highly rated Better than Cheddar.

In early June, Roll With Joe won the Somewheresomebeach in 1:49.2 at Mohawk Raceway. The Ed Hart-trainee then finished second in the $1.5-million North American Cup Final. Unfortunately for Joe and JoAnn Thomson’s Winbak Farm, the Cams Card Shark colt’s dam, Hall of Fame mare Classical Wish, passed away recently. In addition to Roll With Joe, among Classical Wish’s impressive roster of foals are two of today’s leading stallions Bettor’s Delight and No Pan Intended.
