avourite Blackcheddar rode the pylons towards the rear of the field and zipped to a three-and-three-quarter length victory in a track-record mile on Sunday, Aug. 25 at The Track On 2.

 

Go Away N Play led the field to a :29 open quarter and managed a slow pace to a :59.4 half. Just Get It Done, positioned seventh by 12 lengths to the quarter, tipped first over and ranged towards the pacesetter with a circuit to go. Blackcheddar raced eighth up the backside while Just Get It Done stuck alongside the pacesetter past three-quarters in 1:28.4. The two-wide tier retreated rounding the final turn, leaving room for Blackcheddar to kick around horses through the stretch towards a 1:57.3 mile—lowering the previous mark for three-year-old pacing fillies by a fifth of a second.

 

Owned by J J J Stables and Jim Marino, Blackcheddar won her third race from nine starts, earning $20,108. Paul Davies drove the $5.90 winner for trainer Amy Henr
