Vernon, NY — Rosiemunn ($6.20) and Howard Parker won the featured $6,000 fillies and mares pace on Thursday (July 4) at Vernon Downs.


Beyonces Rockn (Jennifer Lappe) led to a first quarter in :26.4 before Rosiemunn ($6.20) took over the top spot and controlled the pace the rest of the way, hitting the halfway point in :56.3 and the three-quarter mark in 1:26.


Rosiemunn, who is owned and trained by Kerin Warner, held off a late charge by Unusual Clarity (Joe Nassimos) to win in a lifetime best of 1:53.4. Unusual Clarity had to settle for second best, while Love Live Laugh (Jimmy Whittemore) was third.


Rosimunn is a 5-year-old mare by Dream Away. It was her fourth win this season and it lifted her career tally to 11 victories.


Parker had two more wins on the night, teaming up with Pudge’s Pastime ($5.90) and Fox Valley Photog ($6.80). Jennifer Lappe and John MacDonald had driving doubles during the July Fourth performance: Lappe won with Jokes Jet ($19.00) and Flamingo Pete ($8.20), while MacDonald was first with Ladyboss ($4.20) and Lucid Thoughts ($6.20).


The big crowd enjoyed a large display of fireworks after racing. Live racing returns to Vernon Downs on Friday (July 5), with a nine-race card starting at 6:10 p.m.
