g>Campbellville, ON — On Thursday (June 27), the Standardbred Horse Improvement Payment (HIP) Administration Committee announced that the 2019 HIP contribution to Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS) Gold Series events with a single division will be C$150,000, plus starting fees.

The Standardbred HIP Committee’s decision goes into effect immediately and the single 3-year-old pacing colt Gold Series division at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday (June 29) will race for C$159,600. This decision follows the boost of C$2.375 million to the 2019 Standardbred Horse Improvement Program (SIP), which was provided by the additional C$10 million of HIP funds earmarked for the horse racing industry by the Ontario government on March 21.

The HIP contribution for 2019 Gold Series events with multiple divisions remains at C$200,000 per event (divided by the number of divisions) plus starting fees, as announced by Ontario Racing on May 17.

As detailed in the 2019 OSS Racing Guide, if only one division is required for a Gold Series event, there will be a maximum of two trailers.
