g>Dover, DE — The threat of rain and dropping temperatures didn’t stop the winners of both early non-wagering Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) events on Monday (March 25) at Dover Downs from obtaining new lifetime records.

In the first $20,000 DSBF event for 3-year-old trotting colts and geldings, Embrace The Grind (He’s Spooky-My Embrace) went wire-to-wire for driver Jonathan Roberts and owner-trainer Bobby Glassmeyer in 1:58. Gettinziggywitit followed the entire mile, with Rich N Royal likewise following him for third.

Go Jetem (He’s Spooky-Special Mist) was a repeat winner, getting up by a neck in 1:59.4 for driver Art Stafford Jr. and trainer Jim Thompson, who co-owns with the Mist Stable. Just As Striking finished second over Dr Grinch.

The trotting fillies came from everywhere in their lone division (race two), but had another repeat winner in Disco Soliel (CR Commando-CR Penny Lane), who took command past the quarter and prevailed in 2:00.3 for owner-breeder-driver Rod Allen and trainer Carlo Poliseno. Dark Dutchess was second after a two-hole trip ahead of first-time starter Command The Day, who finished third.

The $100,000 finals will take place next Monday (April 1). Post time at Dover Downs is 4:30 p.m. every Monday through Thursday.
