Vernon, NY --- Drea's Good Powow (John MacDonald) would take the featured Fillies and Mares Pace ($7,500) at Vernon Downs on Thursday night (Aug. 3). Macdonald won six of the nine races.


Love You Bye (Jimmy Whittemore) would leave right out of the gate and control all the early fractions of the featured race of :27.3, :57.0, 1:24.4. Happy Heart (Claude Huckabone III), would follow the whole way from the pocket. She would come out of the pocket and take over just before the top of the stretch.


Drea's Good Powow (Squaw's Fella), who is owned by the J P Stables and trained by Macdonald, would go three-wide in the stretch and blow right by to win in 1:52.1. Happy Heart (Woodstock) would finish second with Love You Bye (McArdle) hanging on for third.


Drea's Good Powow ($3.00) won for the fourth time this season and the 23rd time in her career. 


Leading driver John Macdonald would win five more on the day. His next win was with Strike A Chord ($5.00), followed by Paltrow Blue Chip ($5.40). Macdonald would then guide Good Luck Ginny (Lucky Chucky-Classical Ginny) to her first career victory in 1:58.2, paying $3.00. Win five was with Miss Ruby ($3.00). His sixth win was with Always Flash-N ($2.80)
