ear-old pacing gelding Play Dance won his Hanover Raceway debut on Saturday evening (July 22) to give Jason Mitchell his first career training victory.


The favourite in the ninth race, Play Dance ($4.20) romped to a seven and a quarter length victory in 1:58.4 with Paul Davies in the sulky. Call Me Caleb (Ross Battin) and Prettygirls Shadow (Bruce Richardson) completed the top three finish order.


Mitchell also shares ownership of the Shadow Play gelding with Dale Betts. The 31-year-old Severn, Ont. horseman earned his first training win in his seventh start following three consecutive third-place finishes with Play Dance at Kawartha Downs.
