going home empty handed versus Preferred 2 foes one week ago in London, Goldstar Badlands dropped in class and posted a sharp victory in Monday’s $7,500 Preferred 3 for horse and gelding pacers at The Raceway at Western Fair District.

Leaving from the rail with driver Scott Young in tow, Goldstar Badlands was looped briefly by Brodys Scrapper who quickly became a pocket sitter when Goldstar Badlands swept around to claim the lead. He was parked past the quarter in :27.3 before clearing to the top. Once on the lead, he never looked back after posting middle splits of :58 and 1:26.1. A :29.4 closing panel propelled Goldstar Badlands to the win by 2-3/4 lengths over Brodys Scrapper in 1:56. Reel rallied off cover to finish third.

Sent off as the 1-5 favourite, the seven-year-old son of Badlands Hanover-Rockin Lady improved his 2017 record to 7-0-1 from 15 starts. The Heather Toll trainee has banked $193,926 to date.
