A 1:54.4 score in Monday’s $11,000 Preferred 2 for pacers at The Raceway at Western Fair District made it back-to-back trips to victory lane for Goldstar Badlands.

A 1:58.1 winner in last week’s $7,500 Preferred 3 for pacers at the London half-miler, Goldstar Badlands survived a tough trip against deeper company to win the Monday evening main event.

Scott Young got away fourth with the Heather Toll trainee, who watched odds-on favourite Thorn In Your Side blaze away on the front end through panels of :27.1, :56.2 and 1:25.1. Young had his charge on the move from first-over as the field neared the half, and he found himself just a neck away from the leader as the battled raged into the final quarter of the contest. Goldstar Badlands’ :29.3 closing speed earned him the length decision over Woggy Rocks in 1:54.4. Thorn In Your Side wound up third.

Morley Bradshaw of Wilsonville, Ont. owns the seven-year-old son of Badlands Hanover-Rockin Lady. The veteran chalked up the 22nd win of his career while bumping his lifetime bankroll to $163,316.

Tomitta Bayama turned a two-hole trip into a 1:57.3 triumph in Monday’s $8,300 Preferred 3 for pacers.

Bob McClure tripped out the Tom Hamm trainee, and the gelding responded with a :30.1 final quarter en route to posting the win by 1-3/4 lengths over Blissfull Years. Blue Chip Sunshine was third.

Dave Hudson of Dallas, TX owns the eight-year-old son of Camluck-Korinna Bayama. The victory was the 23rd lifetime tally for the career winner of $152,325.
