Pompano Beach, FL---In an evenly matched septet featuring a pair of 5-2 chances on the tote-board and two others at 3-1, it was a 19-1 outsider-My Revenuer-that upset the applecart in Pompano Park's $12,500 Open Handicap Trot on Tuesday night.

 

The eight year-old gelded son of Revenue S, handled this night by Brad Kramer, avoided trouble around the final turn by ducking inside of two "breakers" and closed fastest of all to nail the victory in a photo finish, stopping the timer in 1:54.3.

 

She's All In, with Rick Plano in the bike, was second while Uriel, teamed up with George Napolitano, Jr., finished third after cutting panels of :27.3, :55.3 and 1:25 along the way.

 

Sailer Eddie finished fourth while Cashahallic finished fifth after vying for the lead through those fast two opening fractions.

 

When the Hummer Starting Gate left the station, She's All In was away with alacrity with Uriel also away in good order but intent on the lead as Cashahallic was charging up from his outside post.

 

As the battle ensued up front throughout that opening half between Uriel and Cashahallic, She's All In was content in third with Sailer Eddie fourth. On the backside, Escuela went brushing up followed by Winding Hill-the slight favorite.

 

At the third station in 1:25, Escuela moved to within a length of the leader but made a miscue, bothering Winding Hill in the process.

 

That's when Kramer ducked to the inside of the breakers before steering My Revenuer widest of all in the lane, nailing the win in the final few yards.

 

In a post-race interview, driver Brad Kramer said, "I thought I might have a chance off that :55.3 half because My Revenuer doesn't like to leave all that well and likes that kind of pace.

 

"When Travis' mare (Escuela) made that break, it took MacDonald's horse (Winding Hill) out of it and I luckily ducked inside to avoid all of that and even save some ground, too. Turning for home, he seemed locked and loaded and motored down the lane pretty good!

 

"He went a big, big mile."

 

Trained by Leopold Sawyers for owner Tom Petri, My Revenuer won for the initial time in 2016 and 23rd time career-wise sending his lifetime bounty to $191,327. The victory was also worth $41.20 to those who invested $2 on the winner.

 

As if a 19-1 chance was not "long" enough, the 20-1 outsider Ex King, driven by trainer Rick Plano, came from far back to take top honors in the $9,500 co-feature trot, completing the one mile journey in a lifetime best 1:55.

 

The six year-old altered son of CR Excalibur, owned by Colene Lameyer, won for the second time this year in four starts with this 14th win lifetime sending his career bounty to $186,574.

 

Pointe Of Inquiry, handled by Wayne Henry, was a neck back in second after taking a very short lead late while Goldstar Classic, driven by Wally Hennessey, was just another nose back in the three horse photo. Lexis D J, taking the lead after a :27.3 opener, finished fourth after carding subsequent panels of :56.1 and 1:25.2 while Caviart Griffin finished fifth in the octet.

 

After the race, driver Rick Plano related, "You know, early in this horse's career, he loved the front end but, ever since I have had him, he likes to be off the pace. Only one time did I ever put him on the lead and he won off a half in :59 and a piece.

 

"Now, he likes to relax early and can almost sense a quick pace.

 

"He got one tonight and he rolled home like he always does."

 

Ex King rewarded his faithful with a $43.60 mutuel.
