North America Cup eligible Nvestment Bluechip continued to prep for his three-year-old campaign on Friday morning (May 20) at Mohawk Racetrack, as the Shadow Play colt highlighted the track’s eight-race qualifying session.

 

The career winner of four of his 11 races made his qualifying debut last week at the Campbellville, Ont. oval. He took the track for Race 4 this week and lined up in Post 4 with his regular pilot, Jody Jamieson.

 

Nvestment Bluechip wasted no time at all getting to the lead, as he in front by two and a half lengths by the time he towed the field past the quarter pole in a pedestrian :29.1.

 

Nvestment Bluechip kept at his clip through the second quarter of the dash, as he led his foes down to the half-mile pole, which he passed in :58.3.

 

The career earner of $367,000 in purses was engaged by Voracity (driven by Randy Waples) on the final turn. Voracity took over the lead and clicked off the three quarters of a mile timer in 1:27.1. Nvestment Bluechip was second heading into the homestretch.

 

Nvestment Bluechip picked up the pace during his final quarter. He shot home in :26.1 for a three-length victory. Nvestment Bluechip’s win time was 1:53.3. Voracity finished second.

 

David Menary trains Nvestment Bluechip for Menary Racing Inc. (of Rockton, Ont.), Michael Guerriero (Brampton, Ont.), Denis Breton (Welland, Ont.) and Thomas Kyron (Toronto, Ont.).

 

Nvestment Bluechip has been pegged as the 14-1 fifth selection in Trot Magazine’s 2016 Pepsi North America Cup Spring Book.

 

Three-year-old Cornaro Dasolo colt Dunvegan Don made his 2016 charted debut in Race 7. The Herb Holland trainee was almost 15 lengths off the tempo early, but proved to be a force in the contest. He made up all the ground by the head of the stretch and still had enough to get up for a one and three-quarter-length victory. Mario Baillargeon drove the colt and the win time was 1:58.3.
