Tamarind overcame post eight to collect his third straight victory — and fifth in his last six starts — in Wednesday’s $20,000 Winners Over $10,000 Life/Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows.

Tamarind got away fifth before Aaron Merriman sent him after the leader, I Know My Chip, down the backside. The eight-year-old son of Angus Hall-Spicegirl Kosmos cleared easily and went on to score in 1:54. Cue Hall used Tamarind’s cover to finish second, one and three-quarters lengths back, while Monte Christo Spur rallied for third.

Bill Bercury owns and trains Tamarind, who boosted his career bankroll to $837,473.

Tony Hall piloted three winners on the 13-race card.

Live racing at The Meadows resumes Saturday, when the special Belmont Day card features the $46,500 Meadows Maturity Trot for mares four and up. It goes as race one, with a 1 p.m. post time.
