5-year-old trotting stallion Malabar Man, who stands at stud at Winbak Farm in New York, underwent emergency surgery for a scrotal hernia at New England Equine Practice in Patterson, NY, Saturday morning. At this time Winbak Farm of New York can report that Malabar Man is in stable condition and is doing well.   Due to the severity of the operation and time needed for his full recovery, Malabar Man will no longer be available for stallion services for the remainder of the 2009 breeding season.

Malabar Man was voted to the Harness Racing Hall of Fame in 2008 as well as producing the 2008 Two-Year-Old Trotting Filly of the Year Honorable Daughter, undefeated $175,000 New York Sire Stakes colt champion Donttellmywife, and $175,000 New York Sire Stakes filly champion She’s So Savvy.   Owned by the Malabar Man Syndicate, Malabar Man won the 1997 Hambletonian. The son of Supergill has sired the winners of $30.9 million. (Winbak Farm)
