Muscle Hill did everything better in his second qualifier of 2009. He dropped his time from 1:55.4 in last week’s outing to 1:54.3 on Thursday morning, May 21, at the Meadowlands. He increased his winning margin from 4 1/2 lengths last week to seven lengths this week. The divisional champ and winter book Hambo favorite took a brief tuck before strolling to the front and effortlessly coasting to the win. Brian Sears was in the bike for trainer Greg Peck.

Breeders Crown winner Well Said was also an impressive winner for trainer Steve Elliott in his third qualifier on Thursday. Ron Pierce kept the Western Hanover colt on the pylons until the half then tipped and advanced steadily to the lead, drawing away for a 5 ¾ length win in 1:50.3.

Looking to make amends for a miscue in his Hempt elimination, Bluegrass winner Schoolkids won his qualifier by 1 ½ lengths in 1:51.4 for trainer Joe Anderson and driver George Brennan. Pennsylvania Sire Stake champ Panmunjom finished fourth in that race after leading for much of the mile.

Wellwood winner Tom Cango won his second qualifier of the season by ¾ lengths in 1:55 for trainer Jim Campbell and driver Dave Miller.
