Dover, DE---Second-leg action turned Political in the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) colt and gelding trots while at Dover Downs, Tuesday (Nov. 18) when Political Foe and Political Cash swept to victory in $20,000 DSBF freshman divisions.


Corey Callahan and Allan Davis, 1-2 in the dash-win standings, each collected four wins. 


Eddie Dennis took the early lead driving Political Foe and never looked back lengthening the lead at each post on the way to a 2:00.3 victory in the first $20,000 DSBF male trot.  Canadians Stephanie and Brian Cassell own the Political Briefing - Paris Filly gelding. He won for the fourth time, with three seconds, in eight races this season. Luck Dynasty (Vic Kirby) was a distant second with Let It Go (Corey Callahan) third.


Political Cash, another altered son of Political Briefing, this one from Cashmere Sabra, was an easy 2:00.1 victor in the second $20,000 trot. Trained by Bob Shahan who co-owns the 2-year-old with Donald Marine, Political Cash recorded his third win of the campaign and sixth time in the money in seven races. Perfect Vangogh (Tony Morgan) finished second while Egosnattitudes (Jonathan Roberts) was third best.

 
The top eight point-getters after the two prelim legs race in the $100,000 DSBF finals beginning next week. The filly trot final is set for next Monday with the colt and geldings final on Tuesday.

 

Corey Callahan picked up the second of four winners directing Star Recruit to a third straight victory in a $20,000 3,4&5-Year-Old Claiming Allowance in 1:54.3. Nick Surick trains the Dragon Again- Remarkable Star gelding For Black Magic Racing. Hide Me Away (George Dennis) closed with a rush for second. Monologue (Allan Davis) was the show horse.


In addition to Callahan and Davis with four wins apiece, drivers Ross Wolfenden and George Dennis had a double while Wayne Givens and Eli Scott had two trainer wins each.


Frost Free Hanover comes in from the Meadows after three-consecutive wins to challenge I’m So Striking, a winner of the last two $18,000 Open trots in the Wednesday feature race.


Monday through Thursday racing begins with a 4:30 p.m. post. There is no racing Friday and Saturday. Sunday Racing starts at 5:30 p.m.
