Dover, Del. ---- The Super Bowl matches two of the best. The $30,000 Preferred pace at Dover Downs features a pair of 1:50.2 winners last week meet on Monday, Feb. 8. Bushwacker won this event while Mustang Art made it two-in-a-row in the $27,500 Delaware Special. Post time is 4:30 p.m.

 

Bushwacker went right to the front a week ago and was never headed in his fourth win of the year. Tim Tetrick will again be in the bike for trainer Chris Ryder and owner Henderson Farms. Mustang Art, a three-time winner in 2016, is fresh from consecutive victories, by a head with Sean Bier driving and the other by a neck for trainer Jim McGuire and owners Max Walton and Greg Papaleo. Yannick Gingras will drive Speed Again, a winner of two of his last three, for Weaver Bruscemi, RTC and Burke Racing stables and leaves from the rail with Janet Hudson and JoAnn King’s Little Ben, alongside with Vic Kirby holding the lines.

 

Al Carter and trainer Doug Lewis’ Captive Audience has been one of the sharpest top class horses at the track but has only two close seconds and a third last time beaten a half-length to show for it. Corey Callahan will be in the bike again. Last Monday, Ken Jacobs’ Doctor Butch closed with a rash to finish second and gets red-hot driver Tony Morgan this week. Rich Lombardo and Baron Racing’s Ohio champion 1.3-million winner Dancin Yankee makes his second start of the year with Allan Davis piloting. Soto brings a two-race win streak stepping up for Ken Wood, Bill Dittmar and Steve Iaquinto with Ross Wolfenden at the controls.

 

On the undercard is a $15,500 4&5-Year-Old Male pace featuring a nine-horse field. Casey At Bat (A.Davis) has won his last two and three of four for Sharon White, Denise Davis and Legacy Racing, one of two winners last week. Blazing Bobby Sox, owned by Art Stafford and trainer driver Art Stafford starts from post 9 in the second tier. John Reinhardt’s Skyway Gladiator (Mike Rossi) cut the mile last time and finished a close-up second. Brit Evans’ Denslow Hanover (Callahan) was third. 

 

The list of sharp contenders include C&G Racing’s Twin B Stingray (Kirby), Kapildeo Singh’s Apollo Seelster (Jonathan Roberts), The Wiz Kids and driver George&Tina Dennis’ Siler Fox J. Frank Chick’s Warp Factor Three (Jim Morand) and Dawn Webb and trainer Buddy Bright’s Coaster (Ty Davis) are capable of upsetting. 

 

Two $14,000 and two $12,000 paces head the rest of the top 15-race program. 

 

Monday through Thursday racing begins at 4:30 p.m. Sunday post time is 5:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday are dark days.
