Hearts N Flowers took the lead early on the way to a 1:52.1 in the $20,000 Mares Open Handicap Tuesday, Jan. 26 at Dover Downs.

 

Bay Pond Racing’s Hearts N Flowers has been knocking in recent weeks since consecutive wins early in the meet in the track’s top distaff event. Trained by Wayne Givens, seven-year-old Hearts And Flowers (Artiscape-Hasty Dewer) recorded her 21st career victory mounting her earnings to $286,596. It was the third win of the day for Allan Davis, who holds a comfortable lead in second-place in the standings. Springforth (George Dennis) showed her strong closing-kick by finishing second in front of Scandalicious (Tim Tetrick).

 

George Dennis made his second trip to the winner’s circle steering Playncardswitroddy to a 1:54.3 victory in the $15,000 Four- & Five-Year-Old Mares pace reduced to only six starters with the scratching of Louvniecestopieces and Gititgotitgone. The Roddys Bags Again-Fancy Cards mare, owned by George and Tina Dennis and Ask W Atables, bested Lady Beth (Wolfenden) and Quik To Fool You (Kirby), second and third respectively.

 

Caviart Scarlett won her third in-a-row scoring wire-to-wire in a $13,500 Four- & Five-Year-Old Mares pace for Tim Tetrick. A four-year-old by Sportswriter-Caviart Sydney took an early lead and never was challenged racking up the victory with Michelle Rocks (Wolfenden) second and Party Rockin (Callahan) third.

 

Tetrick posted the second of three winning drives -- two for Jim King trainees -- by romping to a 1:52 triumph in a $12,000 Mares pace with No Respect. The John McGill owned daughter of Sportsmaster-Justalittlerespect seven-year-old collected her 27th victory and $396,175 in purses. B Stern (Vic Kirby) closed with a rush to finish second edging Matinee Dragon (Jonathan Roberts).

 

Four drivers accounted for 12 of the 15 race winners. Tony Morgan had four, Allan Davis and Tim Tetrick three each and George Dennis with a double.
