g>Venus Delight (Bettor's Delight) won her first local Fillies and Mares Open on Sunday afternoon at Saratoga as the 4-year-old outclosed her rivals en route to a 1:57.2 victory.

 

Jordan Derue piloted the mare for trainer Frank Podlenski.

 

Venus Delight, a New York Sire Stakes star last year, finished third in her debut in the $17,000 Open two weeks ago, but on Sunday would not be denied. Mc Taylor (Billy Dobson), the winner of the previous Fillies and Mares Open, was the runner-up this week while Little Santamonica (Jim Devaux) held on for the third place check despite being parked the mile.

 

Venus Delight is now 11 for 20 in the win column in her young career and she recorded the Sunday upset at odds of 9-1.
