>Three-year-old pacing filly Shadows Wonder and Clinton Raceway's leading driver Trevor Henry defeated track record holder Her Own Land in the $65,800 final of the Kin Pace on Sunday afternoon.

Dr. Ian Moore trains and co-owns the homebred Shadow Play-Putnams Wonder filly with R G McGroup Ltd. of Bathurst, N.B. and Serge Savard of Saint-Bruno, Que.

With the inside post advantage, elimination winner Her Own Land and James MacDonald took the lead while Henry settled Shadows Wonder in behind that filly from post two. Her Own Land led the way through fractions of :28.4, :59 and 1:28, but Shadows Wonder out-sprinted her in the stretch, clocking a a final quarter in :27.4 to prevail by one and a quarter length in 1:56. Her Own Land settled for second and Justabit Mean, the longest shot on the board at odds of 39-1, finished third nearly five lengths behind with Jonathan Drury aboard. Artful Impulse and Steve Condren were fourth while first over Missevil and Bruce Richardson earned the final paycheque in fifth.

Shadows Wonder was the post time favourite after closing within a half-length of Her Own Land in a 1:55 track record mile during last weekend's eliminations and she paid $5.60 to win.

The black filly earned her fifth career win in 19 starts and the lion's share of the purse leaves her just shy of the $100,000 earnings mark.

As for Henry, the victory capped off a big day for the Arthur, Ont. reinsman, who won six of the 12 races on the program.

The Kin Pace, which is for Ontario-sired three-year-old pacing fillies that were non-winners of $50,000 in 2013, was first held in 2008 and went on hiatus last year. The race is named in tribute to the Clinton Kinsmen that started pari-mutuel wagering at the track in 1970.
