Campbellville, ON --- Uffizi Hanover and Table Talk each made their Canadian debut a winning one, upsetting in their respective C$35,000 Fan Hanover eliminations at Mohawk on Saturday night (June 7).

The Jimmy Takter-trained Uffizi Hanover captured the first dash for 3-year-old pacing fillies by a head at 6-1.

While Uffizi Hanover and driver David Miller got away sixth, Nat A Virgin set the tempo. The 4-5 favorite put up fractions of :25.4, :55.3 and 1:25.3. Wanna Rock N Roll advanced first up from fourth into the final turn and Beach Gal and Uffizi Hanover tracked her cover.

In the stretch, Uffizi Hanover had room and paced past them all to stop the clock in 1:51.4. Beach Gal stayed for second and Nat A Virgin faded to third. Fancy Desire and Take That Hanover finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

“She usually has a pretty good kick to her,” said Miller. “It actually set up for her not too badly. She wasn’t too far out. She had her usual kick tonight.”

The filly scored her first win this season in three outings.

“I think she is the type of horse who needed a few starts,” offered Miller. “I didn’t start driving her until late last year and she was just kind of having a so-so season before then so she might be the type of horse that needs four or five starts before she gets into form.”

The daughter of Well Said-Up Front Dragonfly has a lifetime record of 3-5-0 in 14 starts. With the win, the bay lifts her earnings to C$380,625 for owners Al Libfeld, Marvin Katz and Sam Goldband.

Uffizi Hanover returned $14.50, $5.70 and $2.50, combining with Beach Gal ($3.90, $2.40) for a $49.70 (6-4) exactor. A 6-4-3 (Nat A Virgin, $2.10) triactor was worth $141.90.

In his first drive on the WEG circuit, driver Jim Marohn Jr. found the winner’s circle with the Bart Dalious-trained Table Talk.

After Lady Shadow clocked the opening panel in :26.3, Precocious Beauty advanced first up from third to take command into the backstretch. The 4-5 favorite held the lead through fractions of :55.2 and 1:24.2.

In the stretch, Table Talk went from last to first to score the 37-1 upset by a neck over Major Dancer. The filly also took a new lifetime mark of 1:51.4 in the process. Mamas Fallen Angel got up for third. Rock N Roll Xample and Bahama Blue finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

“The trip worked out great,” said Marohn. “She was a little nervous in the post parade and going behind the gate, throwing her head around. I didn’t get her off the gate quite as good as I wanted to but she settled in nicely past the quarter. With the fractions up front it helped her out finishing.”

The daughter of Bettor's Delight-Place At The Table has a lifetime record of 5-1-1 in 17 starts. With the win, the sophomore lifts her earnings to C$170,813 for The Wiz Kids Stable LLC.

Table Talk returned $77.80, $20.10 and $10.40, combining with Major Dancer ($5.50, $3.90) for a $556.90 (3-4) exactor. A 3-4-2 (Mamas Fallen Angel, $4.90) triactor was worth $1,092.85.
