>A group of seven went postward in Thursday’s $7,000 Preferred 3 for trotters, and despite a first-over trip Strong Hope proved to be much the best.

The Joe Agostino-trained Strong Hope was fourth away for driver Trevor Henry while Action Image Hall and M Douglas took turns on the lead through panels of :28.1, :58.2 and 1:28.2. Henry Wheeled first-over on the way to the mid-way point with Strong Hope, and despite the rugged trip the seven-year-old son of CR Excalibur-Spring Lane Joanie drew clear to win by 3-1/2 lengths over Jetcrest in 1:59.3. Action Image Hall rounded out the Triactor ticket.

Sent off as the 2-1 second choice in the wagering, Strong Hope racked up his second win of the season for Agostino and partner Bert Harris of Whitby, Ontario. The 21-time winner has stashed away more than $436,000 in career earnings.
