WINBAK 7th SELECT YEARLING SALE THIS FRIDAY, SEPT. 16

CHESAPEAKE CITY, Md. --- For the seventh consecutive season, Winbak Farms will conduct its annual sale of Delaware--sired yearlings plus, this year seven Pennsylvania-sired colts and fillies at its flagship location, Winbak Farm, Chesapeake City, Md. on Friday, Sept. 16.

The Winbak sale will boast the finest and largest contingent of Delaware-sired colt and filly trotters and pacers to be sold at one sale in 2011. Winbak will also sell five Pennsylvania-bred colts and two fillies at the venue which begins at 1 p.m.

The 41 Winbak Farm Delaware-sired trotting and pacing breds are eligible to the lucrative Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) stakes program, which has been dominated by Winbak pacing stallions since its inception.

The 26 trotting bred yearlings in the sale are headed by progeny of the First State’s dominant stallion CR Commando. Since the inception of the DSBF stakes program, which features four $100,000 finals, two at Dover Downs and two at Harrington raceways at two and at three, CR Commando colts and fillies have won 42 of the 54 finals. This year, Giant Hit, a former New York Sire Stakes leader, will sport his first six Delaware-bred yearlings. In addition, Political Briefing, a rising trotting star in the program, will have three colts and four fillies going under the auctioneer’s gavel.

Rustler Hanover, already a proven sire, also makes his Delaware debut with 11 selling yearlings among the colt and filly pacers. The highly promising stallion Roddy’s Bags Again is represented by a colt and a filly. A well-bred Three Wizards colt and the last offspring of ill-fated pacer, Shotgun Scott, are also in the sale as well as siblings to four-time DSBA champion Badlands Jenna and to Hasty Pulse are among the standout Winbak roster.

For those seeking strongly bred Pennsylvania-sired yearlings, the standout stallion Quick Pulse Mindale is represented by two colts and five fillies in the stale.

For purchasers of Winbak’s Delaware sired yearlings, each is eligible for the rich DSBF stakes program featuring eight DSBF events, each with a $100,000 final at Dover Downs and also at Harrington Raceway.

In addition to being eligible to DSBF and Grand Circuit events, purchasers of Winbak-bred yearlings have an additional bonus. All colts and fillies in the sale raised at Winbak Farm of Maryland are also eligible to the lucrative Maryland Standardbred Race Fund events.

Again for the second year, Winbak will sell two miniature horses at the sale.  Proceeds go to benefit Union Hospital Breast Cancer Center.  Both miniatures have been broken to drive.
