TOP JUVENILES EYE DOVER DOWNS EARLY NOVEMBER STAKES

 

 


DOVER, Del.--- Following completions of the eight Breeders Crown finals later this month, the last major stakes action of the 2011 season shifts to Dover Downs in early November. The Delaware capital city raceway’s opens its 43rd meet on Saturday, Oct. 29 with the lucrative Matron Stakes and rich Progress Pace the following weekend.

 

 


The Matrons, the oldest continual major stakes in the sport, begin its 2011 championship colt and filly pacing and trotting competition with seven of its eight divisions during the first Saturday and Sunday in November. On Nov. 5, there will be four two-year-old division eliminations. Then on Nov. 6, three of the four sophomore divisions take place. The Matron Colt pace elim is on Sunday, Nov. 20 with the top eight finalists racing on Nov. 27.

 

 


Annually the Matron Stakes boast some of the highest number of nominees in the sport.

 

 


The two-week long $350,000-estimated Progress Pace begins with elim divisions on Nov. 6 and culminate in a rich final the following Sunday.
