Lucky Chucky to Winbak-New York

Fair Haven, NJ --- Lucky Chucky, among the outstanding trotters to compete this year, will stand at stud at Winbak Farms’ New York division rather than at Perretti Farms in New Jersey. The story was first reported by Harness Racing Update.

Plans had called for Lucky Chucky to stand at stud in New Jersey, but the Perretti team changed its mind for a number of reasons.

"It just seemed that under the circumstances for a first-crop stallion that New York just might be a better fit," said Perretti spokesman Bob Marks. "After all, he excelled over the smaller tracks at Chester Downs, Pocono and Dover. Of course, the uncertainty in New Jersey was another factor. We consulted (trainer) Chuck (Sylvester) and (co-owner) Frank Antonacci and they also thought this would be a good idea. This was very much a consensual decision. We've always had a very close relationship with Joe Thomson at Winbak Farm."

The current problems in New Jersey, where the future of racing at the Meadowlands is uncertain, has played a role in at least three stallions being relocated. Rock N Roll Heaven and Tell All, who either stood in New Jersey or were on their way to stud in the Garden State, will now stand elsewhere.
