The article quotes a real estate agent named Lisa Amey, who reportedly heads a group which has raised $20 million for a track and training facility south of Atlanta to be called Georgia Downs.
Amey was also cited as saying the track and adjoining hotel would create 600 jobs.
Arthur Anderson, lobbyist with the Georgia-South Carolina Horse Racing Committee, said that his committee sees the implementation of wagering at four state racetracks as being a "win, win, win," and that, "the money trickles down all the way to the little guy and up to the big guy, and the taxes just come in."
The report says that state revenues are down $2 billion from two years ago.
