The York Daily Record has reported that a proposal announced Friday, September 18 in Pennsylvania could see two per cent of slot machine revenue diverted from the Pennsylvania Horse Race Development Fund to non-horse-racing areas.

The Pennsylvania Horse Race Development Fund rewards breeders whose horses were bred and race in the state.

The proposal would divert two per cent of slot machine revenue from the development fund into the state's general fund for the next four years. According to the report, legislators from both parties reached were reached on Saturday, but could not say how much money would be left for the breeders fund if the proposal is signed.

"Slots were sold in Pennsylvania on the promise of helping the elderly and saving the horse racing industry," Rep. Dan Moul was quoted as saying. "Now we're going to drop the horse racing industry and spend money on something else. I'm going to fight like hell to stop that."
