Sent off as the 3-5 favourite, Logan Park did not disappoint as he and driver Doug McNair put on a speed display to secure victory in the $36,000 Preferred Trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Monday (Aug. 5).
Leaving from post three in the field of nine, McNair landed Logan Park in the pocket early while Fashion Frenzie (driven by Louis-Philippe Roy) sprinted to the lead through an opening quarter of :26.4. McNair moved on the backstretch, putting Logan Park on the point before reaching the half in :55.4. Left alone on the lead on the final turn, Logan Park took the field to three-quarters in 1:24.1.
Turning for home, Logan Park opened up by two lengths as Fashion Frenzie and Amigo Volo (James MacDonald) gave chase. The chase proved futile as Logan Park cruised across the line 1-1/4 lengths clear with a :27.1 final quarter to stop the timer in 1:51.2. Fashion Frenzie held for place, Amigo Volo finished third.
Trained by Kyle Fellows, Logan Park has won five of eight on the year while having yet to miss the board in 2024. The six-year-old gelded son of Archangel-Rite Outa The Park has banked $148,452 on the year. Owned by Outofthepark Stable, Reg Higgs and Arpad Szabo, Logan Park now sports a gaudy career bankroll of $1,217,644.
The win was one of two on the night for Fellows, taking the ninth race with All Wrapped Up (Louis-Philippe Roy) while stablemate Espresso (Tyler Borth) finished second in the $18,000 conditioned trotting affair.
