Ima Standup Guy stood above the competition on Sunday, May 5 at Rideau Carleton Raceway, taking the $10,000 Preferred Trot, which highlighted the 10-race card.

Leaving from post four in the field of seven, driver Robert Shepherd landed Ima Standup Guy in fifth early as 3-5 favourite Warrawee Xalt (Guy Gagnon) sped three lengths clear of the field to the :27.3 opening quarter. Shepherd pulled the right line on Ima Standup Guy to begin the first-over trek while Warrawee Xalt slowed things down to the half in :57. Ima Standup Guy continued to gain first-up, reaching the leader's wheel and moving into second at three-quarters in 1:25.3.

Entering the final turn, Warrawee Xalt used the inside advantage to turn for home a length clear. However, Ima Standup Guy refused to be denied, persisting to the lead with a :30.2 final quarter before opening up by 2-1/4 lengths on the line in 1:56.1. Raising Rusty (Stephane Pouliot) rallied up the passing lane to nose out Warrawee Xalt for the place position.

One of two winners for trainer Mandy Archer on the card, Ima Standup Guy earned his second victory of 2024 through 12 starts. Owned by Jamie Copley, Kimberly Eaton, Darren Tingley and Duane Tingley, the five-year-old gelded son of Archangel-Sierra Fortune has now banked $124,573 for his career.

Additionally on the Sunday card, Guy Gagnon has a monster evening, racking up four driving victories to go along with three training victories. Teaming up with trainer Mandy Archer to score with Jadensmagicsteel, Gagnon rewarded his training job by steering Flash CubeMake It Come True and Treacherous Tom each to victory on the evening.
