Middletown, NY – The Goshen Yearling Sale was held on Monday (Sept. 12) in the sales arena at the Mark Ford Training Center and the spotters were taking offers from a jam-packed gallery of bidders on the grounds while online bidding managed by Cattle In Motion, collected remote bids from registered users that saw a 400% increase this year.

A total of 91 yearlings changed hands generating sales of $1,838,500. And with the overall individual average sale price of $20,203 being achieved, set a new all-time record for the Goshen Yearling Sale with an increase of 17.5%.

By category, 22 pacing colts averaged $22,318 each (up 13%), 26 pacing fillies averaged $19,462 each (up 22%), 19 trotting colts averaged $19,526 each (up 12%) and 24 trotting fillies averaged $17,771 each (up 23%).

Once again Cameo Hills Farm had a big day after they sold the sale topper (Hip #74) Irish Exit (Huntsville-One Last Kiss). The pacing filly was purchased for $80,000 by Gareth Dowse of Marshalls Creek, Pennsylvania.

Cameo Hills also sold the pacing colt (Hip #80) Within The Wind (Huntsville-Pedigree Snob) who was purchased by Erv Miller of Wind Gap, Pennsylvania and pacing filly (Hip #61) Texas Hedge (Huntsville-Limestone Cowgirl) who went home with the Andy Miller Stable (Agt.) of Freehold, New Jersey. Each sold for $40,000.

Cameo Hills was also the top consignor of the day, selling 29 yearlings they either bred or sold as an agent for a total of $701,500 (an average of $24,190).

Blue Chip Farms sold the second highest priced yearling on Monday after (Hip #20) Cantfindmywayhome (Huntsville-Blind Faith) saw the gavel fall at $55,000. The pacing colt was sold to Chad Kowal of Cuddebackville, New York. Blue Chip also sold Villain Blue Chip (Courtly Choice-Jenny’s Terror) to Nicholas Tallarico of Smithtown, New York for $35,000. Blue Chip Farm’s total yearling representation brought $320,000 and averaged $21,333 each.

Winbak Farm sent 16 yearlings to the ring and yielded $312,500 in sales, for an average of $19,531. Their top price-getters were pacing colt (Hip #39) Family Secret (Courtly Choice-Family Love) who was purchased for $39,000 and pacing colt (Hip #90) Smart N Sassy (Courtly Choice-Smart Girl) who sold for $30,000 and both went to Blake MacIntosh of St. George, Ontario.

Leatherstocking Equine’s consignment of 18 brought a total of $300,500 for an average of $16,694 and was led by their top seller (Hip #5) Branchport, a pacing colt that brought $28,000 from Hunter Oakes of Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. They also sent trotting filly (Hip# 54) Nancy’s Opinion (Crazy Wow-Kasha) through the ring to Jessica Okusko of Vernon, New York for $27,000.

The Silver Tradition Stable was the agent for pacing filly Melanie’s Megan (American Ideal-Palette Tina) who sold for $41,000 to Erv Miller of Wind Gap, Pennsylvania and that was the highest price brought by any sire in the sale. It was also the only American Ideal yearling being offered on Monday.

Huntsville had 11 yearlings in the sale and his offspring brought a total of $360,000, averaging $32,727 each. He also sired the top two highest price yearlings that went through the ring (Irish Exit – $80,000 and Cantfindmywayhome – $55,000).

And our hard work has paid off as since 2018 our volume, sales and prices have all reached new record heights and the sale just continues to get better,” said Mark Ford. “We want to thank all of our consignors and customers both live and remote, for supporting this sale and we look forward to doing it again next year as we are already planning for 2023.”
