A solid group of top level trotters squared off in Monday’s $36,000 Preferred Handicap Trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park, and the class jumping Dream Nation pulled off a 13-1 upset in the featured affair.

Dream Nation, in rein to Scott Young, got away fourth in the nine-horse affair while Patriarch Hanover hustled his way to the early lead. He chopped out the first quarter in :27.2, but then released the parked-out Perfetto to the position of command. Perfetto cruised through middle splits of :58.3 and 1:27.1, but after being pressed around the final turn by Oney Hall he later gave way to Dream Nation who shook loose and fired home in :26.4 to win by 1-1/2 lengths over Perfetto in 1:54.4. Pikachu Hanover rallied late to be third.

Jacques Dupont trains the six-year-old son of Archangel-Mississippi Dream, who was sent off at odds of 13-1, for Les Ecuries Dorleans Inc, Ecurie CSL, Gestion C Levesque 2005inc and Marc Camirand. The victory was his second of the season and the 16th of his career. The $18,000 payday bumped his lifetime earnings over $500,000.
