Winbak Farm of Delaware is proud to introduce Sports Column for the 2022 breeding season.

“Sports Column is a striking individual,” said Jack Burke of Winbak Farm. “He has been a barn favorite in the Blake Macintosh barn for many years because of his intelligence and he is the perfect example of ‘tall, dark and handsome’.”

Sports Column, p, 2, 1:52.1s, 3, 1:50.1s, 1:49.1s -'19 ($549,201), was bred, raised and sold by Winbak Farm. At 2, Sports Column won the Battle of Waterloo Stakes elimination and Final. From 3 Ontario Sires Stakes starts, he won 2 Ontario Sires Stakes Gold legs and was second in a leg.

“Sports Column was able to finish first or second in his 6 starts and 3 qualifiers at 2,” said Blake Macintosh, trainer. “He was able to fly around a half-mile and seven-eighths. He always impressed me starting from his very first race where he was second but came a fast last quarter of :26.2.”

At 3, Sports Column won 2 Ontario Sires Stakes Gold legs and was second in The Jenna’s Beach Boy Stakes. He was third in North America Cup elimination, Ontario Sires Stakes Super Final, Somebeachsomewhere Stakes elimination, and The Jug Preview.

“At 3, Sports Column showed his ability to compete against the best in the sport,” said Macintosh. “He competitively raced against the likes of Downbytheseaside and Huntsville, who have both already shown their ability to sire successful offspring, and now after continuing to race and win races, it is Sports Column’s chance.”

Sports Column will stand for $2,500 in his introductory season. The Winbak Farm staff is available to help with breeding-related questions.

“Sports Column brings a fresh bloodline to Delaware with being a son of Sportswriter. He should be a great addition to the Delaware program because of being able to cross well with many of the mares, especially Badlands Hanover and Roddy’s Bags Again mares,” said Burke. “We encourage anyone who has questions to contact us at Winbak Farm of Maryland.”

“Sports Column was always all heart every year that he raced,” said Macintosh. “If his offspring have his heart, they will be incredible performers.”
