Trainer Blake MacIntosh frequented the winner’s circle on the 10-race card at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Tuesday (June 15), sending three winners including a pair of long shots.
MacIntosh’s evening started with Queso Relleno ($3.80), a 1:55.1 winner after driver Jody Jamieson seized the front past the half with the four-year-old Betterthancheddar mare. That pair teamed in the next race to light the tote with Muscle Jack ($78.30), who converted a pocket trip to a 1:55.2 victory as he held firm against the rallying odds-on choice Up And Quick. And though the coals cooled, MacIntosh struck in the nightcap with A Better Game ($22.80) (Betterthancheddar), who brushed to the top before the half and cruised to a 1:52.3 victory.
At this pace, the longtime conditioner will be celebrating a career milestone by year's end as the training hat trick — something his Toronto Maple Leafs had trouble getting against the Montreal Canadiens in the NHL playoffs — puts him at 966 lifetime victories with more than $15.2 million in earnings.
