Hasty Pulse is fastest in the Pennsylvania Sire Stakes

Washington, PA --- Hasty Pulse cruised to the lead, set comfortable fractions and held on late to capture the fastest division of Tuesday’s $293,520 Pennsylvania Sire Stake for freshman filly pacers at The Meadows.

The event, also known as the Meadow Cheer, was contested over four divisions, with Rideintothesunset, In Deep Thought and Foxy Lady taking the other splits.Dave Palone and trainer Run Burke enjoyed stake doubles with Hasty Pulse and Foxy Lady.

Hasty Pulse had won three of her five career starts, including both outings at The Meadows, so Palone confidently sent her to the front. With no early challengers, the daughter of Quik Pulse Mindale--Hasty Dewar made the first three-quarters in 1:26 but still had to step smartly to hold off Cold Mist, who raced well first-over. Hasty Pulse downed Cold Mist by one-half length, in 1:54.1, with Live Inspired a closing third.

“She makes the driver’s job easy,” Palone said. “You can put her in any spot you want. I liked my position at the quarter; it looked like I could control the race. I thought it would turn into a sprint, and they won’t beat her when they leave her alone like that.”

Bay Pond Racing Stable owns Hasty Pulse.

Rideintothesunset was in an unenviable position for a four-race maiden -- seven lengths in arrears and third-over. But the daughter of Western Hanover--Jate’s Strait overcame the wide trip and triumphed in 1:55.1 for Brett Miller. Mortgage Paid was second, one-half length back, while early leader Fashion Ecstasy saved show.

“I thought Brett did a good job,” Tim Pinske said. He trains Rideintothesunset for Pinske Stables and Kentuckiana Racing Stable. “The outer flow moved and was able to pull us up there. She was a little behind a couple of our other fillies, but she raced monstrous today and in a series final at Mohawk.”

In Deep Thought extended her winning streak to three with an effortless uncovered bid for Tim Curtin that carried her to victory in 1:54.4, 1-1/4 lengths better than Skylark Hanover. Latin Lyric completed the Trifecta.

“She has so much high speed that she can pace around those horses just about anytime she wants to,” Curtin said. “We’ve been trying to teach her something because if you get her to the front, she waits on them. But she has a lot of ability.”

Robert Reeser trains the daughter of Ponder--Adoration and owns with Post Time Partners 2009.

Overall on the 15-race card, Palone drove five winners -- four for Burke -- while Miller and Eric Ledford fashioned driving triples.
