Peach Martini Looks To Redeem Herself

Sunday, August 08, 2010  By: Standardbred Canada

The lone defeat in her three career starts came in the Ontario Sires Stakes Gold final at Flamboro Downs on July 23, but Peach Martini is looking to redeem herself Monday night at Mohawk Racetrack in the Ontario Sires Stakes Gold final for two-year-old trotting fillies.

Peach Martini’s defeat came from the Wayne Henry pupil, Extraordinaire, who was victorious in her elimination last week as was Marys Out Cruisin.

Peach Martini is coming into Monday’s contest in excellent form, according to trainer-driver Rick Zeron.

“She raced very good for me in her elimination, she come a quarter in :29 and a mile in [1]:59.4, so I was quite happy. One of the fillies I’ll have to watch is Wayne Henry’s filly, Extraordinaire. She beat me at Flamboro so I’m going to have to watch her [in the final] and the other eight horses, but especially Extraordinaire,” Zeron told WEG’s media department.

“She does everything like she’s four years old so there really isn’t anything not to like about her. Everything so far this year that I have asked her to do she has done and I’m quite happy with her,” Zeron commented.

The daughter of Striking Sahbra, bred by Winbak Farm, has banked $72,500 for Zeron and co-owners Rojan Stables, Michael Katz and Stephen Waldman.

Peach Martini will leave from Post 1 in the fifth race with a scheduled post time of 8:44 p.m.
