Art Colony to Winbak Farm In 2011

Wednesday, June 09, 2010  By: Standardbred Canada

Winbak Farm of Canada has announced that Art Colony p,2,1:51s ($863,750) will be standing at its Ontario-based farm for the 2011 breeding season.

The son of Artsplace, who was trained by O’Brien Award-winning trainer Casie Coleman, took a mark of 1:51 at two and earned $863,750 in purses during his 13-race career. Art Colony was also race-timed in 1:48.4.

In April of this year, Art Colony was officially retired by owner Tom Hill after the colt reinjured his suspensory which he had originally torn in 2009 during the Meadowlands Pace.

“He is a great looking horse: big, athletic and powerful. His semen tested excellent and we look forward to 2011 with Art Colony in the breeding shed,” Winbak Farm of Canada Manager Larry Drysdale said. “Adding Art Colony to our Canadian lineup is making Winbak Farm of Canada a very competitive roster.”

Art Colony won four of his seven starts as a two-year-old, a season in which he took his 1:51 career mark, earned $423,750, and won the an elimination of the Governor’s Cup. He also finished no worse than second in any of his starts.

Art Colony came back as a three-year-old and went on to finish second in the North America Cup, a division of the Burlington Stakes and an elimination for the Meadowlands Pace.
