Repeat Winners In DSBF Prelims

Sunday, November 29, 2009  By: Standardbred Canada

Both Model Legs and Naughty Indeed picked up where they left off last week, as did Chocolate N Roses with Punks Embrace winning for the first time in $20,000 DSBF prelims on Saturday, November 28 at Dover Downs. Ron Pierce had a hot hand driving six winners.

The George Teague Stable made a clean sweep of the two legs of the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund Two-Year-Old Filly Pace prelims. Model Legs, a daughter of Badlands Hanover-Modelaag disposed of six rivals easily in 1:55.4 to win one of the second leg prelims. Corey Callahan was in the bike for Badlands Racing and George Teague's winner of four of five career races. Fran Luck was second best for Ross Wolfenden while Badlands Kate finished third with Tony Morgan at the controls.

In the other section, Montrell Teague never looked back as Naughty Indeed notched a 1:56.3 victory for Dennis Polimeni and VIP Stable. It was the Badlands Hanover-Lofty Aspirations bay's fifth win in nine races this season earning $60,864. Winbak Patty closed strongly to finish second in front of the Ben Stafford, Jr.- driven Top Land.

The most contentions of the DSBF events came when Chocolate N Roses shadowed Emily Do from start to finish before pulling out on the final turn and besting her foe in a stretch-long duel in 2:01. Mike Merton drove Chocolate N Roses for breeder, owner and trainer Erika Paradee. It was the CR Commando-Confederate Rose filly's third win in six lifetime starts bringing her lifetime earnings to $60,552. Emily Do, now seven for nine, was driven by John Wagner. Indian Hill Blaze took third for Ron Hill.

Marvin Meyer's Punks Embrace notched his first career victory with Ron Pierce driving a 2:01.1 decision in the other $20,000 DSBF prelim. My Command To You with Corey Callahan was runner-up. Miss Snazz was third driven by Jim Morand.

The top four in each of the divisions return next Saturday for $100,000 DSBF finals.
